Ход урока
1. Организационный момент и приветствие.
Hello, children! Today we are having a special lesson on topic “Great Britain at a glance”. You are all divided into two teams, you will compete and the winner will get a prize.
Учащиеся представляют своих капитанов, названия команд и свои девизы, подготовленные заранее.
2. Объявление цели урока.
Today we are talking about Britain. You are supposed to present in various tasks everything you remember. We shall also learn some new facts from the Queen Elizabeth’s life.
3. Аудио-речевая разминка.
Now you will hear a song. Think of its topic, please.

So, children, I ask four pupils from each team to stand up and say as many words on this topic as you remember. If you can’t say a word, you drop out of the game. The only remained player is the winner. You shouldn’t repeat words!
Учащиеся выполняют задание и победившей команде присуждается два балла.
4. Проверка домашнего задания.
Now I’d like to check how well you’ve learnt some interesting historical facts about Britain. Here are four cards with the questions. Each team has an opportunity to answer twice. You will choose a card, read the task aloud and speak up. If you don’t remember the answer, your friends may help you.
По двое учащихся из каждой команды выходят к доске, вытягивают вслепую карточки со следующими вопросами и отвечают подготовленный материал. За каждый правильный ответ команды получают по два балла.

5. Занимательные загадки.
Учащимся предлагаются два задания на скорость и сообразительность.
Here comes a riddle competition. Two groups of six pupils from each team will stand in a line facing each other. There is a five-step distance from each group to the red line in the middle of the class. I’ll say riddles in turn to the teams. If you guess right, you will make one step forward to this red line. If not, please, stay still. The winner is that group which reaches the middle first.
Учащиеся встают в линию в пяти шагах от развернутой посередине класса красной линии и по-очереди отгадывают следующие загадки. Команда, первой добравшаяся до красной линии, получает пять баллов.

Thank you all for your answers, you may take your sits. And now I’d like to let other pupils take part in our contest. A few children from each team will get crosswords in which you should find and circle nine things the British Queen takes when she goes traveling. I’ll also give you the definitions of these things, they may help you. You should do it as quickly as you can. [2]
По трое учащихся из каждой команды получают следующие карточки с определениями и кроссворды на больших листах и за заранее подготовленными столами выполняют это задание. За каждое правильно найденное слово команды получают по одному баллу, а команда, закончившая задания быстрее, получает бонус – два балла.

6. Работа с текстом.
Учащиеся получают карточки с отпечатанным на них текстом о пристрастиях королевы Елизаветы 2, самостоятельно знакомятся с ним. Далее следует короткий контроль понимания прочитанного в вопросно-ответной форме.
And now I ask two pupils from each team to come to the blackboard. Here are the cards with “likes” and “dislikes” of the Queen. The first team should choose the cards with the “likes” only and stick them onto the blackboard; the second team should choose the cards with her “dislikes” only and also stick them onto the blackboard. You are welcome.
По двое учащихся из каждой команды выходят к доске, получают следующие карточки с названиями пристрастий королевы и с помощью магнитов распределяют их на доске по двум категориям: одна команда - вкусы королевы, а вторая - названия того, что ей не нравится (карточки не должны быть одинаковыми). За каждый правильный ответ начисляется два балла.

7. Контроль монологической речи.
Now we’ll play a kind of hide-and-seek game. Two pupils from each team will get instructions where to find the hidden task. You should follow these instructions, find an envelope with the task, come back and present the task to us.
Двое учащихся из каждой команды получают карточки с инструкциями, как добраться до задания, и выходят из класса. По возвращении они по очереди описывают изображенные на найденных ими картинках виды Лондона. Наиболее полное и правильное описание получает три балла, мене – один или два балла.

While your friends are playing this game, we offer you another one. In everyday life we seldom use full names, we say MASHA instead of MARIAH. On the blackboard you will see two columns for each team. All of you will stand one after another and in turn match the full names with the short ones as quickly as you can.
Пока дети находятся вне класса, выполняя это задание, остальным предлагается сыграть в простую игру «Имена». Они выстраиваются перед доской в колонну по-одному и по команде поочередно соединяют линиями правый столбик с полными именами и левый столбик с сокращенными именами. За каждую правильную пару имен команда получает один балл, а команда, закончившая вперед, получает бонус – два балла.
8. Подведение итогов урока, подсчитывание баллов, озвучивание и награждение (победителям и всем активным учащимся из другой команды выставляются отметки «отлично», остальным – отметки «хорошо»).
