Тема: «Educational Systems all over the World»

Цель: формирование культуры общения учащихся. Улучшение  межличностных отношений в классе. Ознакомление с системами образования Великобритании, США и России.

Задачи:

  • Образовательные:
    • Расширить кругозор учащихся в рамках данной темы.
  • Развивающие:
    • Развивать навыки монологической речи, умение вести дискуссию.
  • Воспитательные:
    • Воспитывать у учащихся общеязыковую культуру общения. 
    • Формировать у учащихся уважение к культуре страны изучаемого языка.
  • Практические:
    • Учить употреблять ранее изученную лексику в ответах на вопросы.
    • Развивать умение понимать на слух сообщения, построенные на языковой и речевой базе данной темы.
    • Активизировать ранее изученную лексику по теме «What is it like being a teenager?».

Оборудование и оформление: CD-диск с мультимедийной презентацией, персональный компьютер, бейджеки, интерактивная доска, проектор.

Форма: урок-дискуссия.

Время и место проведения: 12:25, кабинет №30

Структура:

  1. Подготовительный этап:

- оргмомент
- целеполагание.

  1. Вступительная часть

     3. Основная часть:

- доклад об Российской образовательной системе;
- доклад об Американской системе образования;
- доклад об Британской системе образования;
- обсуждение выражений

4. Заключительная часть:

- подведение итогов

Подготовительный этап: Сначала я решила в какой форме я буду проводить внеклассное занятие. Затем составила конспект мероприятия. Дала учащимся слова, чтобы они выучили их дома. После этого приготовила мультимедийную презентацию. Провела репетицию мероприятия.

Speaker 1: Good morning, students! We’re glad to see you. So, as I know you have finished studying the theme “What is it like being a teenager?” in which you also talked about education.
Speaker 2: Today we’ll compare educational systems in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, in the United States of America and in Russian Federation.
Speaker 1: The main question we should answer during our talking will be “What educational system is the best and more productive in your opinion”. But before answer we’ll discuss the main stages of education and some other interesting facts in all these countries.

Speaker 2: As you see there are three groups here today: the first group will protect the educational system of the UK. The second- the educational system of the USA, and the third- Russia’s educational system.
Speaker 1: And there are three experts  in every group who will tell us some information about this theme.
Speaker 2: So, we hope it will be interesting and useful for you! Be very attentive! Let’s start!
Speaker 1: And I suggest you beginning with the Russian Federation. It’s our motherland and we’re sure that you know this educational system, as you live here, but we let’s talk about it once again.
Speaker 2: So the expert from the first group, tell us about all the stages of education.

Expert 1:

Russia

  • The first private schools , gymnasiums and lycees, have already been founded in Moscow and St. Petersburg , in an attempt to revive the pre-1917 traditionals of Russian educational system with its high standards of excellence.
  • Secondary education is mandatory in Russia.
  • Children start school at the age of 6 and finish at 17 .
  • There are also “special" schools .

Stages of Education:
  • The first stage of education is
  • elementary school for grades 1 through 4.
  • The second is secondary school for grades 5 through 9.
  • Students are given the choice of either continuing to attend the same school (high school; grades 10 and 11 ), or entering a vocational school or trade school.
  • Having completed one's secondary education, one can either become part of work force or go on to college ("institution of higher learning").
  • There are universities and so-called "institutes" in Russian .

Speaker2And now we can confidently say that we remember the educational system of Russia. And I think it’s high time to learn something new about American educational system. Let’s listen to the second expert from the second group to tell us about it. Be very attentive!
Expert 2:

The United States of America

  • Kennedy said, "Our progress as a nation can be no swifter than our progress in education".
  • The programme of studies in the elementary school includes English, Arithmetic, Geography, History of the USA, Natural sciences and, besides, Physical Training, Singing, Drawing, wood or metal work, etc.
  • The National Government gives no direct financial aid to the institutions of higher education.
  • Students must pay a tuition fee.

 Expert 2:

There  two types of school in the United States of America.There are state public, private elementary schools and private secondary schools.Public schools are free and private schools are fee-paying.

Stages of Education
  • Elementary education begins at the age of six or seven, when a child goes to the first grade (form).
  • At the age of sixteen schoolchildren leave the elementary school and may continue their education at one of the secondary schools or high schools, as they call them.
  • After graduating from secondary schools a growing number of Americans go on to higher education.

Speaker 1: Thanks. Students, do you think that this system is convenient? Is it possible to make a success in studying  there?
Speaker 2: I see you know this system quite well now, and it’s possible to  present the next system. Let’s speak about the stages of education in Britain. Let’s ask the expert of the third group to tell us about it.

The United Kingdom

  • If all good people were clever and all clever people were good, the world would be nicer than ever.
  • The purpose of the British education is not only to provide children with literacy and the other basic skills they will need to become active members of society but also to socialize children.

Stages of Education
  • English boys and girls begin to go to school(it is called "infant") at five.
  • At seven they go to junior schools or departments.
  • At eleven they go to secondary schools.
  • The system of higher education in Britain includes universities, colleges of education and advanced cources at various colleges.
  • After three years of study a university graduate will leave with the Degree of Bachelor of Arts or Science. Student can continue to take his Master's Degree and then the Doctor's.

Speaker 1: And now let’s make a result of our speaking. Let’s answer the main question: What educational system is the best and more productive in your opinion?  We give you some minutes to discuss it in your groups and then one of your group’s members.

Speaker 2: And we want to finish our conversation with the words of professor Pinckelton: “We can say that the person is rich only if they well-educated. The educational system in every country is individual and it’s depends on nation’s peculiarities. What of them are the best you may decide!”
