Цели урока:

  1. формировать навыки в различных видах речевой деятельности:
    • аудировании;
    • диалогической речи;
    • чтении;
  2. совершенствовать лексико-грамматические навыки.

Оборудование: интерактивная доска, аудиодиск, аудиокассета, дидактический раздаточный материал.

Ход урока

1. Good morning, children! Today we are going to talk about the weather and the seasons.

Teacher: What do you think about the weather today?

Pupils:

– The weather is nice /awful today.

– This is a nice /awful day.

– It’s so sunny/ windy/ cold/ warm today, isn’t it?

Teacher: It’s a warm spring day. I like to travel when the weather is so nice. And you? Look! What is it? Something interesting… I’ll read it. Listen.

    Tours to Europe!
    Tours for curious tourists to Europe!
    Tours to Europe in January and February.

  2. Translate, please. Mind the translation of some words on the blackboard:

    tours – поездки
    сurious – любознательные
    during – в течение

  3. Repeat after me, please.
  4. Read, please.

2. It’s neither January nor February, it’s May now. What day of the week is it?

It’s just the time to make plans for the coming weekend. Let’s choose where to go. But we don’t know the weather forecast. Let’s switch on the radio. Radio stations usually give information about the weather.

  1. Listen and say what countries are mentioned in the information. Take the cards and tick the countries that you can hear.

    Spain: Sunny all day with wind and temperatures 14-16 above zero.
    France: Cloudy with winds, sunny periods with temperatures 12-14 above zero.
    Germany: Rainy with temperatures only 10 above zero.
    Engand: Cloudy and foggy in the morning. The temperatures are 10-12 above zero.
    Italy, Greece: Sunny all day, no rain with temperatures 16-18 above zero.
    Scandinavia: Rainy all day, windy, 9-11 above zero.

  2. Listen to it again and answer the question: “What will the weather be like in these countries?” Match the weather symbols and the country and write down the temperature.
  3. What will the weather be like in France? In Spain? In Italy? In Scandinavia? (На интерактивной доске. слайд 2)

3. They say nothing about the weather in Russia. Let’s switch on the TV.

  1. Open your textbooks, p.90 ex.6. Listen to the dialogue and say where they will go.

    Talking About The Weather

    Sandy: Hello. Could I speak to Sue, please?
    Sue: This is Sue. Hello!
    Sandy: Are you busy today?
    Sue: No, I’m not.
    Sandy: Well then, let’s go to Hyde Park. The weather is so fine.
    Sue: Great! See you there in ten minutes.
    Sandy: OK.

  4. Role-play the dialogue.
  5. Work in pairs. Make your own dialogues. Use the word-combinations on the blackboard: to the country

    to the sports ground
    to the Zoo

  6. Present your dialogues.

5. I think it’s a good idea to go to the country. We shall go there by bus. Are you ready? Let’s go. (слайд 3)

On our way to the country we’ll play with words and read smth interesting.

  1. Match the parts of the sentences. Use the word “because”.

    The trees are red, yellow and orange. Why? Because it’s autumn.

    I put on warm clothes. Why? Because it’s cold in the street.

  2. Do you like crosswords ? What is the fifth month of the year? What is the second month of the year?
  3. One more exercise. Read the sentences and the words and fill in gap.

6. Чтение. We haven’t come to the country yet. Let’s read a little.

  1. Read the text and name the summer months in Great Britain.

    The English Year

    May, June, July, August. In Great Britain summer begins in May. So there are four summer months. They are May, June, July and August. The weather is usually warm but not always. It is often changeable. The days are long and the nights are short. When the sun is high in the sky it is hot.

    People wear light clothes – cotton shirts, jeans, skirts, T-shirts and light shoes.

    In May on the first Monday English people celebrate the May Day holiday. Big shops are open and some people go shopping.

    In June the English people celebrate Father’s Day. On that day children send cards and give presents to their fathers.

    Most people stay in Britain in the summer. In July and August there are lots of things to do: you can go to the parks, to the swimming pools, to the stadiums. If the weather is fine, there are a lot of people on the beaches. In July and August you can have a very good time.

    – May, June, July, August are the summer months in Great Britain.

    – And what are the summer months in Russia? There is a difference.

  2. Read the text aloud and say what holidays the British celebrate in May, June, July and August.

7. Well, children, here we are. Look out of the window. We are in the country. What a wonderful view! (слайд 7)

– What season is it? Can you describe it? Is the sun shining brightly? What colour is the sky? Are there leaves on the trees? Etc.

Our trip is over. We have read, we have discussed our weekend and the weather in different countries.
