Праздник, посвященный необычным английским традициям начинается с исполнения песни на английском языке “Come to the party”.

Ведущий 1: Every country has its own traditions and customs. The British are very proud of them and keep them very carefully.
Ведущий 2: Today we are going to present you some strange, unusual British traditions.
(На сцене появляются 2 ученика)
1-й ученик (глашатай) громко объявляет:
Remember, remember
The 5th of November
Gunpowder, treason and plot,
For I see no reason
Why gunpowder treason
Should ever be forgot.
Ведущий 1:
Когда наступает 5 ноября, многие люди дают своим собакам успокоительные таблетки, чтобы собаки не лаяли громко во время взрыва фейерверков. А накануне праздника вы можете увидеть детей с маленькими тележками или маленькими колясками в которых сидит чучело(guy).
(Появляется ученик, везущий детскую коляску с “гаем” – чучелом:
Pupil 2:
There’s a bonfire here today,
There’s a bonfire here today.
Spare a penny for the guy, please.
I’ll buy fireworks and I will set them off
Children will admire the fireworks when I set them off.
(Ученик обращается к присутствующим пожертвовать несколько монет на фейерверки)
Pupil 3:
In 1605, Guy Fawkes tried to blow up Parliament and kill King James I. He and some of his friends dug a tunnel- just under the House of Lords- and rolled barrels of gunpowder into the cellar. The plot was discovered and Guy Faawkes was taken to the Tower of London and executed
Pupil 4:
Do you know that the cellars where Guy Fawkes was captured are still searched before each opening of parliament?
This is a spectacular ceremony and everything is done just as it was done almost four centuries ago.
Guy Fawkes Night is one of the most popular and noisiest festivals in Great Britain.

А весной проходит еще одно забавное зрелище- Cheese Rolling (Катание сыра). Это состязание не прекращалось даже во время второй мировой войны, когда страна испытывала недостаток провизии. Но тем не менее участники катали даревянные муляжи с вкрапленными кусочками настоящего сыра.
Pupil 5:
Of all Britain’s famous customs and traditions, cheese rolling is probably the strangest – and certainly the most spectacular.
A group of brave (and crazy ) people roll a large cheese down the hill, and then run down after it
(Далее следует небольшая сценка)
Pupil 6:
Hello, I’m the Master of the Ceremony. Look at me. I must wear a white coat, ribbons and a top hat. Now I’ll start the competition. “One to be ready, two to be steady, three to prepare – and FOUR to be off.”
(Проводится соревнование,кто быстрее прокатит головку сыра (муляж) по дорожке вперед и назад.
Ведущий 1 задает вопрос:
- Oh, and what’s the prize for winning in this “extreme sport”? Do you know?
- You get to keep the cheese!
После небольшой сценки появляется группа ребят с красными носами разнообразной формы (сделанными из папье маше). Они предлагают ребятам догадаться, почему у ниж такие странные красные носы.
Ведуший 2: - Have you got any idea why their noses are red?
Pupil 7:
For one day every two years, Britain goes crazy. People all over the country (even police officers and teachers) wear red noses and do silly things. It’s Red Nose Day – the day when doing really stupid can raise loads of money for charity.
Ведущий объявляет о проведении игры “The funniest posture.”
Звучит музыка, ребята танцуют, выполняя произвольные движения. По сигналу “Стоп” ребята прекращают движения и ведущий выбирает ребят с самыми смешными позами. Игра проводится несколько раз.
Pupil 8: As you have probably guessed, the symbol of Red Nose Day is the clown nose. Each year different kinds of noses are sold. A nose costs 1 pound and at least 70p. goes to charity.
All the money raised on Red Nose Day goes to people who need it most – to poor and disadvantaged children in Britain and in Africa.

Pupil 9: I will tell you about Pancake Day which is celebrated on Shrove Tuesday in spring at the beginning of Lent
On this day English families usually have pancakes for dinner. At school children and teachers have pancakes for school dinner, and in restaurants customers ask for pancakes, too.
Ведущий 1: But do you know that in England people not only eat pancakes but race with them?
Pupil 10:
Once a year it is a custom for women to cook flat cakes in a frying pan, and run down the street, throwing the pancakes into the air, and catching them in the pans.
Pupil 10: Считается, что первое состязание The Olney Pancake Race было проведено в 1445г. Эта традиция была приостановлена только в годы второй мировой войны, но с 1948 года она была возобновлена. Правила состязания следующие:
Pupil 11:
Women must:
a) wear aprons;
b) cover heads with a hat or a scarf;
c) a pancake must be tossed three times during the race.
The winner is a woman who comes first and doesn’t drop the pancake.
Ведущий 2: Примечательно, что до 1950г. никто за пределами деревни Олни не знал об этом состязании. И вот в 1950г. жители городка Либерал в США решили организовать такое же состязание и вызвали жителей Олни принять участие в международном конкурсе. Жительницы Олни со столетним опытом проведения таких состязаний приняли вызов с уверенностью. Но к их великому удивлению из 17 забегов американцы выиграли 8, а жительницы Олни всего лишь 7 забегов.
Ведущий 1 приглашает учащихся принять участие в состязании. Каждый ученик держит сковороду с блинчиком. Они должны подбросить трижды блинчик. Побеждает тот, кто первый придет к финишу, не уронив блинчик на пол.
Ведущий благодарит участников праздника и предлагает ответить на вопросы:
1.What tradition did you like best of all?
2.What is the most unusual custom?
3.What tradition is the funniest?
4.What tradition would you like to introduce in our country?
