Ведущий 1:

What do we love about Christmas; (слайд 1)
Does our delight reside in things?
Or are the feelings in our hearts
The real gift that Christmas brings.

Ведущий 2:

It's seeing those we love, (слайд 2)
And sending Christmas cards, too,
Appreciating people who bring us joy
Special people just like you.

Ведущий 1: We are very glad to see you today. Our party is devoted to the most interesting, the most important, the most beautiful, and of course, the most favourite holiday among all people all over the world – Christmas! (Слайд 3)

Ведущий 2: At Christmas we follow old customs. We feel the magic of the season. And we try to care more deeply for others.

Звучит любой рождественский хорал. Освещается сцена. В зале свет приглушен. На сцену из-за кулис выходят три прекрасных феи (ангелка = звездочки).

1 фея:

Saw you never in the twilight, (слайд 4)
When the sun had left the skies,
Up in heaven the clear stars shining,
Through the gloom like silver eyes?
So of old the wise men watching,
Saw a little stranger star,
And they knew the King was given,
And they follow'd it from far.

2 фея:

Heard you never of the story, (слайды 5, 6)
How they cross'd the desert wild,
Journey'd on by plain and mountain,
Till they found the Holy Child?
How they open'd all their treasure,
Kneeling to that Infant King,
Gave the gold and fragrant incense,
Gave the myrrh in offering?

3 фея:

Know ye not that lowly Baby (слайды 7, 8)
Was the bright and morning star,
He who came to light the Gentiles,
And the darken'd isles afar?
And we too may seek his cradle,
There our heart's best treasures bring,
Love, and Faith, and true devotion,
For our Savior, God, and King.

Уходят под звуки рождественского хорала.

Ведущий 1: What does Christmas mean to you? (Обращается ко 2 ведущему)Christmas is a joyful religious holiday when Christians celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. (Слайд 9)
The Christmas story comes from the Bible. An angel appeared to shepherds and told them that a Savior had been born to Mary and Joseph in a stable in Bethlehem. (Слайд 10)

Ведущий 2: Three wise men from the East (the Magi) followed a wondrous star which led them to the baby Jesus to whom they paid homage and presented gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh. (Слайд 11)

Ведущий 1: On Christmas Eve everything is rush. Offices and public buildings close at one o’clock, but the shops stay open late. Most big cities, especially London, are decorated with coloured lights across the streets and enormous Christmas trees. The main line stations, trains and buses are crowded with people travelling from all parts of the country to be at home for Christmas. (Слайды 12-13)

Ведущий 2: Now the pupils from the 7th form will tell us why Christmas is called «Christmas».

Ведущий 1: In the homes there is a great air of expectation. The children are decorating the tree with tinsel, various baubles and often colored lights as well. The house is decorated with holly and a bunch of mistletoe under which the boys kiss the girls. (Слайд14)

Ведущий 2: The sharply pointed leaves were to symbolize the horns in Christ’s crown and the red berries drops of his blood. Holly became a Nativity tradition. (Слайд 15)

Ведущий 1: And do you believe in Santa Claus? (Слайды 16 и17)
To people all over the world, Christmas is a season of giving and receiving presents. In Scandinavian and other European countries, Father Christmas, or Saint Nicholas, comes into houses in the night and leaves gifts for the children. Saint Nicholas is represented as a kindly man with a red cloak and long white beard.

Ведущий 2: He visited houses and left gifts, bringing people happiness in the coldest month of the year. Another character, the Norse God Odin, rode on a magical flying horse across the sky in the winter to reward people with gifts. These different legends passed across the ages to make the present-day Santa Claus. (Слайды 18, 19, 20)

Ведущий 1: One of the traditions in Christmas is to perform plays, they are called Nativity plays and today you'll see two of them. The 1st is The Miracle of St Nicholas.

Аngels: Dear St Nicholas, Patron Saint of sailors and children, come and save those poor children!
St. Nicholas: I am Nicholas, the Patron Saint of sailors and children. Who calls? Who needs me? I'm coming.
Аngels: Over there, St Nicholas!
Аngels: Over there! Over there!
St. Nicholas: Oh yes, I see! A little house! Let's see what's to be done there! Butcher, can I come in?
Butcher: But of course, Sir, I'm delighted to welcome you!
St. Nicholas: Mmm! Well, now! What's in there?

Аngels: Thank you to St Nicholas, Patron Saint of sailors and children, who, by this miracle, the lost little children has saved. Bravo, bravo, St Nicholas! Bravo, bravo, St. Nicholas!

Артисты кланяются и под рождественскую музыку уходят за кулисы.

Ведущий 2: A Christmas card is a greeting card sent as part of the traditional celebration of Christmas in order to convey between people a range of sentiments related to the Christmas season. (Слайд 24)

Ведущий 1: Besides the Christmas tree, holly and mistletoe are used to decorate the house. Branches of holly are put up behind pictures and mistletoe is hung over doors, so the young people have a chance to kiss the girls under it. (Слайд 25)

Ведущий 2: Let’s sing one of famous Christmas songs «Let it snow». Look at the screen and sing.

(На сцену выходит группа учащихся и исполняет песню с танцевальными движениями, весь зал подпевает, текст песни проецируется на экран) (Слайды 26-31)

Let it snow

Oh the weather outside is frightful, It doesn't show signs of stopping,
But the fire is so delightful, And I've bought some corn for popping,
And since we've no place to go, The lights are turned way down low,
Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!

When we finally kiss goodnight, The fire is slowly dying,
How I'll hate going out in the storm! And, my dear, we're still good-bying,
But if you'll really hold me tight, But as long as you love me so,
All the way home I'll be warm. Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow

Ведущий 1: Carol singing is an traditional part of Christmas. No church or school is without its carol service. Carols may be traditional or by known composers they can express different feelings. Carols appeared in Christmas history about the fifteenth century. (Слайд 32 )

Ведущий 2: Usually children come around in the evening to the front doors and start singing carols and the people living in these houses give children candies, nuts, pies and so on, to thank them for carol singing. (Слайд 33)

Ведущий 1: Now a girl from the 10th form is going to sing you some old carols. Meet her.

(Ученица поет под гитару)

Ведущий 2: Al l over the world, traditional gift bringers visit children at Christmas. Another popular tradition of Christmas is that On the eve of the Christmas children hang their stockings so that Santa Claus could put presents into them : oranges, sweets, nuts and if the child didn't behave properly Santa Clause can put there a piece of coal as punishment. (Слайды 34-35)

Ведущий 1: Santa Claus got his name from a man known as St.Nickolas who lived in Asia in the fourth century. He gave his wealth to the poor and often to children. St. Nicholas was Bishop of Myra, in Asia Minor. He was a rich man who used his wealth to help others. (Слайды 36-37)

Ведущий 2: We’d like to present you another play about another legend of Santa Claus. . Listen in silence. One man had lost all his money. He had three daughters who were old enough to get married. This family was so poor they had nothing left to eat. The daughters were going to be sold as slaves because they couldn't live at home any longer. They were very sad. They wouldn't be able to have families of their own. And they would have to be slaves – no longer able to decide where they would live or what they would do. The night before the oldest daughter was to be sold and now listen and look attentively!
Драматизация: she washed her stockings and put them in front of the fire to dry. Then all of them went to sleep – the father and the three daughters. In the morning the daughter saw something lumpy in her stocking. She reached in and found a small, heavy bag. Inside was gold! Enough to provide food for the family and money for her dowry. Oh, how happy they were! The next morning, another bag with gold was found. Imagine! Two of the daughters would now be saved. Such joy! And the next night, the father planned to stay awake to find out who was helping his daughters. He dozed off, but heard a small "clink" as another bag landed in the room. Quickly he jumped up and ran out the door. Who did he catch ducking around the corner? Nicholas, the young man who lived with his uncle. "Nicholas, it is you! Thank you for helping us, I hardly know what to say!" Nicholas said, "Please, do not thank me thank God that your prayers have been answered. Do not tell others about me." (Драматизация сопровождается световыми эффектами, специально подобранной музыкой для каждого героя)

Ведущий 1: Nicholas continued helping people. He always tried to help secretly. He didn't want any attention or thanks. All his life Nicholas showed people how to love God and care for each other. And so more and more people learned about good, kind Nicholas. They wanted to be like him. He is an example of how we should live. And that is why he became a saint. This is the story of the real Santa Claus, St. Nicholas. To this day people say that St. Nicholas, or Santa, is the special friend of children. (Слайд 38)

Артисты выходят на сцену и кланяются, уходят под веселую рождественскую мелодию.

Ведущий 1: According to the legends Santa Claus has a lot of helpers: elves, angels and reindeer. The most favourite is Rudolph. (Слайды 39-40)

(За сценой вдруг слышится громкий звук колокольчиков)

Ведущий 2: Oh, hush! Can you hear those bells? That is Santa with his red-nosed reindeer Rudolph coming. Let’s call him all together. Звон колокольчиков усиливается. Появляется, подпрыгивая, веселый Санта Клаус с мешком подарков. (Слайд 48)

Santa: HO, HO! Your chimney is dirty! Who’s there? Well, let’s ask boys and girls of the 7th forms if they were good. Were you? Did you help you little sisters and brothers to tie their shoes, did you feed the homeless cast and how did you behave at school? So, you will get your Christmas gifts under your Christmas trees at night. Merry Christmas! Bye!

Ведущий 1: Santa is hurrying to other kids. He will give out his gifts to all good boys and girls, moms and dads, cats and dogs.

Better not pout, I'm telling you why: He's gonna find out who's naughty and nice.
Santa Claus is coming to town! Santa Claus is coming to town!

He sees you when you're sleeping, Oh! You better watch out, you better not cry

He knows if you've been bad or good, Santa Claus is coming to town
So be good for goodness sake!
